After going through a bitter separation from his
partner of 11 years, Garreth decided that it was time for a change so
September 1996, Garreth moved to
Halifax,
Nova Scotia,
Canada
on the East Coast of Canada. In October of 1996 Garreth opened the
Five Animal Kung Fu
School and embarked on what is now his journey to helping people feel
better about the way they feel.
Things didn’t go as planned for Garreth in Halifax
financially so he tried several different things to make ends meet. He
worked security in several night clubs, work as Background performer in
several movies filmed in
Halifax.
He even thought Break Dancing for a while. After one of his Female Kung
Fu student remarked on how much she has lost weight doing Kung Fu,
Garreth figured he should come up with an exercise program for those not
interested in learning Kung Fu and on March 1st, 1999 Garreth created
F.I.T.
(F)inally (I)'m (T)oned, a non-impact, total body workout using some of
the graceful movements of Kung Fu. Garreth began giving classes at his
Kung Fu School.
In
2002 Garreth produced his first F.I.T. Exercise Video which featured
Anais Guimond,
co-host of Caribbean Workout. Not being happy with the quality of the
final product, Garreth decided not to release it. In 2003 Garreth
produced his second F.I.T. DVD/Video. However, once again, he was not
very happy with the lighting & the sound so he decided once again that
it was not a good enough product to offer to the public.
In 2007, Garreth decided
that it was time to give F.I.T. one final try so he filmed the F.I.T.
Program one last time in the beautiful Compass Room at the Nova Scotia
Casino in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada which is the DVD now being offered
to the public.
Garreth
has made several appearances on Breakfast Television to demonstrate his
Kung Fu and have been featured in local papers such as Frank Magazine,
Black To Business Magazine,
The Chronicle Herald
&
The
Halifax Coast Weekly
